Structure:

この / その / あの / どの + Noun

Meaning: “this ___,” “that ___,” “that ___ over there,” or “which ___?”
Usage: They must be followed by a noun. You can’t use them alone like これ / それ / あれ / どれ.
Example:

This book is interesting. (near the speaker)
