🧱 What is や used for?
Use や to connect nouns when you want to list some examples, but not everything.
It’s like saying:
“A, B, and maybe other things too.”
“Things like A and B.”
🔧 Structure:
Noun A や Noun B
➡️ A and B, for example
➡️ A and B, among others
🆚 vs. と (and):
- A と B = just A and B (complete list)
- A や B = A and B (plus possibly more)
✨ Example:
京都や奈良に行きました。
→ I went to Kyoto and Nara (for example, and maybe other places too).
