～ましょう / ～ましょうか

🔹 Grammar Point:

• Take the ます-form of a verb and drop ます, then add:
  • ～ましょう = A direct suggestion (“Let’s do X”)
  • ～ましょうか = A more tentative suggestion phrased as a question (“Shall we do X?”)

🔹 Examples:

• 一緒に図書館で勉強しましょう。
  → Let’s study in the library together.
• 早はやく出発しゅっぱつしましょう。
  → Let’s leave early.

• あそこでコーヒーを飲みましょうか。
  → Shall we drink coffee over there?
• 少すこし休やすみましょうか。
  → Shall we take a little break?

🔹Real-Life Usage Notes

1. Social Context: ～ましょう is often used when someone is taking the lead, while ～ましょうか is more collaborative and asking for agreement.
2. Politeness Levels: This form is polite and suitable for most situations. Among close friends, you might hear the casual equivalent ～よう instead.
   Polite: 行いきましょう。
   Casual: 行いこう。
3. Refusing Invitations: When declining a ～ましょう invitation, don’t respond with “いいえ”. Instead, use a more explanatory refusal:
   すみません、今日きょうは用事ようじがあります。
   I’m sorry, I have plans today.
