〜ましょうか (P.2-Offering Assitance)

Meaning: “Shall I…?” / “Shall we…?”

You’ve learned that 〜ましょうか is used to make a suggestion to do something together. In this lesson, you’ll also learn how it’s used to offer help, especially when someone might need a hand.

✅ Structure

Verb (ます-form, without ます) + ましょうか

✅ Examples:

1. ドアを開あけましょうか
   Shall I open the door?
2. 荷物にもつを運はこびましょうか？
   Shall I carry your luggage?

📝 Real-Life Notes:

• This is slightly more formal than casual speech — perfect for people you don’t know very well or want to show respect to.
• You’ll hear it in restaurants, stores, etc. For example:
  • 袋ふくろに入いれましょうか？(Shall I put it in a bag?)
• If you want informal, use this:
  → 手伝てつだおうか (Want me to help?) — same idea, just informal.
