～なければいけません / ～なきゃいけません＝ “Must / Have to do something”

Use these patterns to say something must be done, or that someone has to do something.

• ～なければいけません = formal, polite
• ～なきゃいけません = casual, spoken
• ～なきゃ = super casual (just between close friends)

🔧 Structure:

Start with the short negative form of a verb (〜ない), drop the い, and add:

• 〜ければいけません (formal)
• 〜きゃいけません (casual, spoken)
