The te-form of a verb can also be used to connect a verb more “loosely” with the rest of a sentence. Rather than simply indicating sequence, it can show how one action serves as the means, reason, or context for another action.
朝ご飯を食べて、歯を磨いて、学校に行きました。
I ate breakfast, brushed my teeth, and went to school.
宿題をして、テレビを見て、寝ました。
I did homework, watched TV, and went to bed.
友達に会って、買い物をして、家に帰りました。
I met my friend, went shopping, and returned home.
電車に乗って、東京に行きます。
I go to Tokyo by train.
